Radio, Television, and the NRB

Hello everyone and Happy 2016!! Another year in which we all can proclaim the goodness of our Lord Jesus through the various avenues He has given us.

At our church, we have a radio program on the GO MIX Christian Radio Network every Sunday afternoon at 12:15 called “Pleasant News From the Grove”; a television program of the same name on WHFL-TV 43 in Goldsboro, NC each Friday night at 8:30; and we just launched our own low power radio station WRPG 106.9 FM from our church in Pikeville, NC in which our worship services are live each Sunday morning. We call it the “Pleasant News Hour”.

With this said we thank the Lord for His many blessings in which He has given us to get out the the Word of His goodness, His grace and His power. As Pastor, it thrills me when we get reports that people are listening to our TV and radio broadcasts each week. My prayer for 2016 is that God will open doors for many other ministries to have the same opportunities we have had here at Pleasant Grove Church to broadcast the “Good News” of Jesus Christ and His love!

One avenue that God has given us to come together in all these areas worldwide is The National Religious Broadcasters Association. Each year they have an annual Convention. This year takes place next month in Nashville, Tennessee. This will be my third trip to NRB and I am looking forward to it. As a matter of fact it is through this organization that I met Carl Barnhill, the owner of twelve:thirty media, so I give NRB credit for the Lord using them to help me meet Carl, and bring this to you today.

If you have never attended the NRB Convention, I highly recommend you considering it. Next year it moves to Orlando, Florida which is great for the winter because it will be much warmer than what we saw in Nashville last year. Although, I must say that everyone at Gaylord Opryland has been great!

In 2015 it was through NRB that I was introduced to Christian Film up close and personal. Because of NRB I had the great opportunity of meeting others in Christian film and help promote four Christian films in our area last year. Not to mention it gave me a vision of my own to try and possibly participate as an extra or act in a Christian film. With all that, the Lord allowed me, along with the rest of my family, to be introduced to Rudy and Anne Greene at Talent One Agency in Raleigh, NC and they now represent us on the acting/film front. My daughter Katie’s desire to act as well led us down this avenue.

Without the NRB, Radio and TV, I would probably not be able to do what I do today. May God bless you all in 2016 and if you happen to be in Nashville at NRB February 22-26, be sure to stop me if you see me at a workshop, banquet or in the exhibit hall.
