The Media vs. The People of Iowa

THE MEDIA VS. PEOPLE OF IOWA. In Page Image

Close to a year ago I began writing these blogs here on twelve thirty.

Several times you have heard me write about the effects of media on how people make their decisions and with this being a big election year there is no doubt the media will have its play in this year’s politics as well.

Someone once said that the reason they voted for Former President Bill Clinton was because “He is such a nice looking young man!” Not that Clinton did not do a good job as President as the economy in America was good under the 42nd President, however it was not his looks that got our economy in decent shape during that time. Knowing the lady who told me this, who has passed on now, I know she never got to see President Clinton in person, but by way of the media.

It seems to me that the media definitely swings votes one way or another whether they are trying to or not.

In the recent Iowa Caucuses the media kept on about how on the Democratic side Hillary Clinton was way ahead of Bernie Sanders in the “recent polls” and how on the Republican side Donald Trump led everyone in again…”recent polls.” What happened? Secretary Clinton barely, by a razor thin margin, defeated Bernie Sanders by only two tenths of a percentage point while Senator Ted Cruz ran away from Donald Trump with Trump almost losing second to Marco Rubio of Florida.

The gist of this is that “just because the media said it does not make it so.” As a young Preacher someone once told me not to believe everything I heard. He was indeed right and I think we have learned a lesson over the years not to totally depend on liberal or any other media to be our salvation when it comes to information. The only information that IS our Salvation is The Bible, the inspired Word of God!

For not only did the Iowa Caucus show us how media polls call be incorrect, but the Election of 2000 between President Bush and Former Vice President Al Gore certainly showed that the vote and decisions lie with the people of America, not with the media.

Do we have a strong voice in media? Yes, we do whether it be liberal or conservative. However as history has taught us, the greatest voice in our land is the American people. And may we as Americans get our hearts right with God through Jesus Christ that are words may be guided by Him that our news, information and messages may be delivered in a correct manner.
