Producer DeVon Franklin on “Miracles from Heaven”
The movie MIRACLES FROM HEAVEN hits theaters today.
MIRACLES FROM HEAVEN is based on the incredible true story of the Beam family. When Christy (played by Jennifer Garner) discovers her 10-year-old daughter Anna has a rare, incurable disease, she becomes a ferocious advocate for her daughter’s healing as she searches for a solution. After Anna has a freak accident and falls three stories, a miracle unfolds in the wake of her dramatic rescue that leaves medical specialists mystified, her family restored and their community inspired.
The movie stars Jennifer Garner, Queen Latifah, Martin Henderson, and John Carroll Lynch and is directed by Patricia Riggen (The 33). The film was produced by DeVon Franklin and Pastor T.D. Jakes.
I recently had the opportunity to see a screening of the film. It’s powerful and very moving. It’s a must-see for people of faith and a great film to take your lost friends to see. As a parent, there were scenes that were tough to watch and endure. It’s definitely a heart-felt, inspirational film that will capture you and pull you into the story.
This film is perfect to gather your volunteer team to go see together.
I recently had the opportunity to speak with one of the producers of the film, DeVon Franklin.
DeVon is an author, film producer, preacher and motivational speaker. He serves as President and CEO of Franklin Entertainment, a production company under the Sony Pictures banner. He is the former Vice President of Production at Columbia Pictures and he has also served as studio executive at MGM.
He has worked on a number of successful films including The Karate Kid, The Pursuit of Happyness, Jumping the Broom and others.
DeVon and I talked about the journey of bringing MIRACLES FROM HEAVEN to the screen, the story and the casting of the film with big-name actors, why you should see it and how you can get involved.

Carl Barnhill has served on staff at some of the largest churches and organizations in the country. He served as Media Director at Precept Ministries International, directing the television and radio program Precepts for Life with Kay Arthur, broadcasted to over 98 million homes around the world. He served as Video Production Director at Pinelake Church in Brandon, MS, where he produced media content for four campuses, as well as led volunteer teams.
He most recently served as Video Coordinator for Newspring Church in South Carolina. Newspring has 10 campuses across the state with a weekly attendance of over 35,000. At one campus alone, the number of consistent volunteers serving in media production tripled, under his leadership.
He currently serves as Creative Director and Owner of [twelve:thirty]media, a company that serves churches and ministries all over the world through motion graphics content and church media coaching.
